Defenseless by Corinne Michaels

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Defenseless is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. I haven't read the other books in the series but truly enjoyed Defenseless with no problems.

It is a great military romance with some unexpected twist. I love a strong female character and Charlie definitely fills the role. She is sassy, funny, calculating and a bad ass.

Mark is all virile male. His is a retired Navy Seal working in the private sector. He is generally loved by his group of friends and co-workers. Always quick with a joke and just as quick to lend a hand.

Put these two together and it is like an atom bomb. Their banter is beyond entertaining and the sexy time is so very hot.

"Assert your bullshit idea of dominance? Because you're going to see really quickly that I'm always on top. I'll top you even from the bottom, princess. You should get use to it."

This is my first Corinne Michaels book and I love her writing style. Her sense of humor is awesome and she can write a sex scene (fans self). Above all of that is an intricate plot of mystery and deceit. It is woven expertly with the romance and keeps you turning pages. Military lingo and expertise flows naturally throughout the story.

She turns her head to face me and lifts her lips. The words that come from her mouth go straight to my groin. "Don't be afraid to to pull the trigger next time, princess." Charlie's eyes glimmer, and I know right then that this woman will not be owned, but she sure as shit will own me."

Great read that I would highly recommend!

Received an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
