I didn't know what to expect going into this book. It's a first for me with this author duo team and I was pleasantly surprised.
93% Chance I don't hate you was cute and sweet and light. I needed it after the emotional read prior to this. Sometimes all you need is a gentle reminder that there are sweet romance novels out there, and this was one of them.
Carter is a bit too wound up-her pedigree and life she's lived thus far has moulded the woman she is today. She knows what she wants (or really, what her mother wants) and is willing to settle to please her prestigious family name. A junior at university, and she already has her life planned out for herself. Or does she? A dare from her best friend has her applying for the Blind Date app-a last chance encounter to keep her uni life light before her family expect her to marry well.
Welcome Ashton. An Artist in his last year of university-He's sick and tired of one night stands and being lonely. He's such a talented bloke, and feels he needs more substance in his life. A drunken night and an application for a dating app and he's on his way to a BLIND DATE. Having a bestie who encourages such shenanigans is always a good way to get the push you need.
Having previously known each other through school, and having used pseudonyms as their profile names on the dating APP, they are shocked to see who turns up for the blind date. The tension pops off the page, but so does the witty conversations and I kept turning the page because of the warm and fuzzies I got while reading. Carter and Ashton are a little bit of sunshine on this rainy day and I found myself needing to know how these two ended up.
Did Carter pick the boring predictable life her parents set out for her? Did Ashton return to his breaking hearts status on campus? I needed to know!
What I liked most about this book is the honest to goodness second chance these two get. Over coming diversity, being true to one another and making sure you go after what YOU want and not what others want for you was such a nice theme and very prevalent in the story. Carter matures nicely and finally gains a back bone, while Ashton was a strong and consistent ROCK for Carter and he stuck to what he believed in.
Though this is a two part series, this book can be read as a standalone. I'm looking forward to the next book.
