The Way Back Home by Carmen Jenner

REVIEWED BY Monique Cashmere

The Way Back HomeThe Way Back Home by Carmen Jenner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

August Cotton is lost, in so many ways. He is brought back home under circumstances that only make his life harder, but he needs to be there for Bettina, his four year old sister. While Bett and Auggie are dealing with their loss, they are hit by a tornado in the shape of a woman - Olivia Anders. She has come to their parents B&B for a month to set up her Paws for Cause program in their town. The Cotton's were hoping her program would help their son through his trauma.

The thing with this couple is even though there is instant attraction, it's not an easy path for these two. It's one step forward and ten steps back. August is a returned Marine with battle scars not only on his body. Liv wants to help him heal, but it's hard when you are falling for your client.

I enjoyed reading Liv and August's story. She was one sassy and strong willed woman who had confidence in her abilities and compassion for others. August was a troubled sole, but with just cause. He needed to forgive himself and trust in his new companion that he is still the same man before he left for war. It's not a quick fix but it leads to some very interesting kitchen foolery!
